Challenge
The project began with the task to develop new flavours for the Minecraft ice cream, aiming to offer something distinct from existing flavoured milk and ice cream products. This required not just creativity but a rigorous process of innovation, involving multiple trials and tests. FoodFlo and Norco worked closely with suppliers to find the right flavours and colours, all while considering what would appeal in the competitive market.
Input from customers on the trial products was vital, as their feedback would guide important choices in development. Particular complexity was found in producing the flavoured fudge, demanding an understanding of how flavours behave under heat and ensuring that the fudge would remain pleasantly soft in the final ice cream product, rather than becoming hard.
Solution
FoodFlo addressed the challenge with bubblegum fudge pieces that stood out for their size, shape, and texture - meeting the specific requirements for Minecraft ice cream. Achieving this involved a collaborative, proactive approach: combining expertise from flavour and colour suppliers, and integrating continuous customer feedback.
The creation of flavoured fudge was described as a “labor of love,” highlighting the effort needed to capture the right bubblegum flavour and look inside the fudge matrix. Through diligent trials and refinements, the team solved key technical hurdles and delivered a solution that realised both the creative vision and practical demands.
Outcome
The outcome of the project was marked by clear satisfaction: the end result was described as “absolutely magnificent.” The collaborative development yielded a product that looked and tasted exactly as envisioned - an innovative ice cream featuring soft, flavourful bubblegum fudge pieces, meeting both internal goals and market expectations.
